WLED Max Terms of Service

These WLED Max-specific Terms of Service ("App Terms") supplement our Company Terms of Service. By using WLED Max, you agree to both these App Terms and our Company Terms.

1. About WLED Max

WLED Max is a native iOS and Android application for controlling WLED LED controllers on your local network. The app provides an intuitive interface for managing LED effects, colors, presets, segments, and device configurations through the WLED JSON API. These Terms apply to both the iOS and Android versions.

2. WLED Device Connections

WLED Max connects to WLED controllers on your local network:

  • WLED Controllers: Open-source LED control firmware running on ESP8266/ESP32 devices
  • Local Network: All communication occurs over your local Wi-Fi network
  • No Cloud Required: WLED Max does not require an internet connection to control your devices

Important Disclaimer

WLED Max is a third-party controller app. We are NOT affiliated with the WLED open-source project.

  • Device compatibility depends on your WLED firmware version and hardware
  • We are not responsible for issues caused by WLED firmware bugs or hardware failures
  • You are responsible for the safe installation and operation of your LED hardware
  • Improper LED wiring or power supply configurations can pose safety risks unrelated to this app

3. Local Data Storage

All app data is stored locally on your device. This includes device IPs, custom names, saved presets, and app preferences. MeowScript does NOT operate any servers that store your data. Deleting the app removes all stored data.

4. In-App Purchases

Free Tier

WLED Max is free to download. The free tier includes full control of up to two (2) WLED devices, including device discovery, real-time control, effects browser, color picker, presets, playlists, segments, and OTA firmware updates.

Premium Upgrade — "Unlimited Devices" (One-Time Purchase)

Users with more than two WLED devices can purchase the one-time "Unlimited Devices" upgrade (US$9.99 or local equivalent, subject to local taxes and currency conversion by Apple/Google). This is a non-consumable in-app purchase — not a subscription — and does not auto-renew.

Seller of Record and Billing

  • iOS: Apple Inc. is the seller of record. Purchases are processed and billed through your Apple ID using Apple StoreKit. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement and the Apple Media Services Terms govern the transaction.
  • Android: Google LLC is the seller of record. Purchases are processed and billed through Google Play Billing. Google Play Terms of Service govern the transaction.
  • Pricing is displayed in the App Store / Google Play and within the app before purchase
  • Purchases are tied to your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored on your own devices

Family Sharing

The "Unlimited Devices" upgrade supports Apple Family Sharing (iOS) and Google Play Family Library (Android) where those platforms permit. Eligibility is determined by Apple or Google, not by MeowScript.

Refunds

Refund requests must be directed to the platform you purchased through: reportaproblem.apple.com for iOS or Google Play Help for Android. MeowScript does not process refunds directly. Refund approvals are at Apple's or Google's sole discretion per their refund policies. If you are an EU/UK consumer, you retain any statutory withdrawal rights that apply to digital content.

Price Changes

Because "Unlimited Devices" is a one-time purchase, any future price change applies only to new purchases. It does not retroactively affect users who already own the upgrade.

5. Network and Safety

Safety Notice

WLED Max controls LED hardware on your network. Please observe the following:

  • Ensure your WLED devices are properly wired and powered according to manufacturer specifications
  • WLED Max requires local network access permission to discover and communicate with devices
  • The app sends control commands over your local network - ensure your network is secured
  • MeowScript is NOT responsible for any hardware damage, electrical issues, or safety hazards related to your LED installations
  • Use of WLED Max with photosensitive individuals should be done with caution, as rapid light changes may cause discomfort

6. Data Storage and Privacy

Please review our WLED Max Privacy Policy for details. Key points: all data is stored locally on your device, no data is sent to MeowScript servers, and crash reports are opt-in only through Apple's standard system.

  • iOS: iPhone or iPad running iOS 17.0 or later
  • Android: Phone or tablet running Android 9.0 (API 28) or later
  • Local network access permission required
  • Wi-Fi connection to the same network as your WLED devices

8. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

IN ADDITION TO THE DISCLAIMERS IN OUR COMPANY TERMS:

  • WLED Max is NOT affiliated with or endorsed by the WLED open-source project
  • We do NOT warrant compatibility with all WLED firmware versions or hardware configurations
  • We are NOT responsible for hardware damage, electrical issues, or safety hazards
  • We do NOT guarantee uninterrupted or error-free device control
  • Network conditions and device firmware may affect app functionality

MAXIMUM LIABILITY: Our total liability shall not exceed the purchase price paid for the app, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.

9. WLED Open-Source Project

WLED is an open-source project (github.com/Aircoookie/WLED) licensed under the MIT License. WLED Max is an independent third-party application and is not developed, maintained, or endorsed by the WLED project maintainers. "WLED" is used for descriptive purposes to indicate compatibility.
